The UCI Road World Championships are heading to Harrogate and the district is gearing up for a busy and exciting week of sporting action.

Running from 21-29 September, the Championships are known as the ‘World Cup of cycling’, with the sport’s biggest names competing for their country to win a coveted rainbow jersey.

Thousands of visitors are expected in Yorkshire in September with an estimated global TV audience of tens of millions and more than three million roadside spectators.

Cicada has been working in partnership with Harrogate Borough Council to create and manage a Harrogate Welcomes the World business roadshow that stopped off in Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge, Masham and Boroughbridge.

The aim of each roadshow was to inform attendees about the races and routes and inspire them to make the most of one of the world’s biggest sporting spectaculars.

Over the last ten weeks we have welcomed more than 150 guests to hear presentations and meet with representatives from the council and event organiser Yorkshire 2019. The Cicada team was on hand to deliver a session packed with PR, content and social media tips.

The events attracted representatives from across the business spectrum who had an opportunity to network, ask questions and collaborate with like-minded organisations.

Each session ended with a Q&A, which covered everything from car parking and transport to trading restrictions and even knitting patterns!

Although there are restrictions around using the UCI name and logo in your marketing, businesses can access a Harrogate Welcomes the World toolkit. This includes a series of free-to-use logos designed exclusively for the World Championships. Download the toolkit here
